Dissolving rayon pulp market saw hardwood pulp deals concluded at a rollover of US$920 per metric ton during the first two weeks of February, while softwood pulp deals were heard at US$1,000 per metric ton, similar to end January. Filament-grade dissolving pulp prices were firm and it was reported that discussions for softwood pulp were at US$1,100 per metric ton. In China, dissolving pulp prices moved up in a quiet atmosphere. Discussions for hardwood pulp were up at 7,400-7,500 Yuan per metric ton (US$1,170-1,185 per metric ton, up US$20), and stable for softwood pulp at 7,500-7,600 Yuan per metric ton (US$1,185-1,205 per metric ton).
VSF
Viscose staple fibre market sentiment was stable in China as downstream mills mostly suspended production for holiday. Mainstream offers for medium-end VSF were at 14.50-14.60 Yuan a kg (US$2.29-2.31 a kg) while high-end were stable at 14.90-15.00 Yuan per metric ton (US$2.36- 2.37 a kg). In India, VSF market fundamentals continued to remain favorable supporting prices to rollover at INR144-151 kg (US$2.24-2.35 a kg). Export offers for 1.4D VSF were in the range of 1.78-1.85 per kg FOB depending on supplier and quality.
