Prominent BJP leader and Member of Parliament from the Begusarai Loksabha constituency in Bihar, Giriraj Singh has been trusted with the responsibility of the Ministry of Textiles in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. He has earlier served as Rural Development and Minister of Panchayati Raj, Minister of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Resources Development and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises during previous NDA governments.

Pabitra Margherita, a new face in Delhi politics has been appointed as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Textiles and the Ministry of External Affairs. He is a familiar name in Assam and a popular young leader who became a Rajya Sabha MP from the state in 2022. Prior to becoming MP, he had served as a BJP spokesperson in Assam and prabhari of its social media cell.

The Indian textile industry is going through several challenges and expects the new ministers to take bold policy decisions and implement the government’s schemes to revitalize the industry. The ministry is expected to take forward the Prime Minister’s vision 5F vision to make India a global textile & apparel manufacturing and export power house.
