Textiles Ministry will approach the Cabinet in a fortnight seeking approval for the new national textiles policy that seeks to create 35 million jobs, Union Minister Santosh Gangwar said.
"We will approach the Cabinet in 10-15 days for approval of the new Textiles Policy," Gangwar told PTI. The new policy aims to achieve US$ 300 billion textiles exports by 2024-25 and envisages creation of additional 35 million jobs. Thepolicy also aims to address concerns of adequate skilled work force, labour reforms, attract investments in the textile sector, and provide a future road map for the textile and clothing industry.
Keeping in view various changes in the textile industry on the domestic and international fronts and the need for a road map for the textile and apparel industry, Ministry of Textiles had initiated the process of reviewing the National Textile Policy, 2000.
